X-Men: First Class Sequel Will Involve “Days of Future Past”?

The sequel to the well-received X-Men: First Class looks like it will be on some level related to the classic comics story Days of the Future Past. Ain’t it Cool News got the following tip:

One of my little birds Weapon X recently dropped me some information that 20th Century Fox had recently registered the title DAYS OF FUTURE PAST with the MPAA Title Registration Bureau.

If true, then that’s incredible news. Fans of the comics know that this one of the definitive X-Men stories, and has affected the series in a multitude of ways to this day. In a future in which mutants are rounded up and imprisoned, and X-Men are killed on sight, there is little hope for the mutant race. Kitty Pryde is the main character and link between times in this, so the movie probably won’t involve her, unless they are planning to break from original trilogy canon even more.

We will have to wait until more details emerge to put the pieces together, and until July 18, 2014 to see the movie in theaters. What do you think? A good move for the franchise? Sound off below!
