How has Turok’s life changed since defeating the invading Crusaders? Read on to find out.

The official description from Dynamite:

A NEW ARC for our favorite Dinosaur Hunter! Turok has faced horrible forces from the east…but what’s now coming from the WEST? If you were shocked by the first four issues, you won’t BELIEVE what’s coming next! An incredible change of direction from superstar writer GREG PAK (Batman/Superman)!

Turok #5 variantTurok: Dinosaur Hunter enters it’s second art with the heroic Turok having distanced himself from his people and civilization altogether. He does however not stay secluded for long as with the introduction of new character Altani, Turok finds a new interest as well as being confronted with a new nemesis. This all makes for a fun and energetic opening to the arc, making it the perfect jumping on point for new readers.

Greg Pak does a fabulous job of making this feel fresh and inviting whilst also giving a script that should please fans of the story so far. The main thing that appealed to me about his script for this issue was the introduction of Altani and the dialogue shared between her and Turok. The chemistry between and similarities of both characters showed through perfectly, with it looking as if Turok has finally found someone he can relate to. I did however find the issue as a whole to be slightly too quick of pace with the developments feeling slightly rushed at times.

Takeshi Miyazawa takes over art duties for this arc bringing a new look to the series. The intensity and roughness of his artwork was simply astonishing allowing for a more punchier look. To compliment this Miyazawa’s charming execution to the characters faces allows a more lightheated tone to slip through. The dynamic layouts and vibrant scenery also allows more intensity to shine through and aided by Mauricio Wallace‘s colours the final tone and atmosphere is simply phenomenal.

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter’s second arc gets off to a stellar start with the introduction of new characters and nemesis’ making it the perfect jumping on point. Highly recommended.
