The official description from DC Comics:

The shocking conclusion to “THE INJUSTICE LEAGUE” leads to a startling confrontation with the all-new, all-dangerous Doom Patrol! And in the wake of it all, a secret will be revealed that will bond two members forever – and break two members apart. Plus, Shazam unlocks a new power that will send a shockwave through the League.

Justice League #33 variantJustice League has been in a somewhat state of disrepair since the end of Forever Evil, as though Luthor’s attempt to join the Justice League, and the new Power Ring’s emergence has been intriguing, the series has lacked the spark it once had. This however changes here, as with the intense battle between the Justice League and the Doom Patrol, along with Luthor continuing to prove himself as a hero, things are really starting to heat up.

Geoff Johns has been handling the writing duties on this series since it launched in August 2011, and though he’s not captivated with every issue, he’s created some amazing stories in that time. In his latest Johns has been focusing on introducing both Luthor and Power Ring to the core team, with the Doom Patrol’s appearance being in the same vein as the Metal Men’s appearance from Forever Evil. Despite this it’s the way in which Johns ends this struggle that impressed me the most, with Batman’s reasoning, and cunning decision as to what to do with Luthor having me gripped for future issues.

Doug Mahnke has been doing a wonderful job on the artwork as of late, creating a very dynamic atmosphere for this story. Having each page full to bursting with characters and scenery, Mahnke certainly has his hands full, and where some artist may have slipped on detail, Mahnke doesn’t. The close-ups and overall dramatic layout also allows the emotion, and tension to build-up throughout the issue, with Keith Champagne‘s inks, and Andrew Dalhouse variety of vibrant colours allowing it to shine.

Justice League looks to be getting back on track, as though overcrowding may have been an issue, the ending and overall tension was truly wonderful. Highly recommended.
