The Strain: The Night Eternal #4 Review

The big reveal of the renegade vampire and his connection to the master is completely revealed. What is revealed that is so interesting? Read on to find out.

The official description from Dark Horse:

Known as the Born, he works with the rebellion, but he’s a vampire . . . Who, or what, is Mr. Quinlan? And what, exactly, is his connection to the Master? This issue sheds light on the past of the mysterious and badass bloodsucker slayer who is bent on destroying the Master’s strain and ending his reign.

strainne4p1Woah, I was more surprised with this issue, then when I found out the killer in “Psycho”. It was so good and perfect that I have to applaud the writers because the connection between Mr. Quinlan and The Master is really, really good. I will let you know that I will be spoiling this issue so if you don’t want that please stop reading. So the story starts with Quinlan talking about the Master in the past and how he came to be, then it is revealed that Master had bitten a woman and she was pregnant. The woman escaped but the baby and her were, both, turned causing the, woman and the baby to become vampires. What does this mean? Well, it means that, in a way, Mr. Quinlan, is the Master’s son. If you haven’t already, then breathe, because my breath was taken away. It was so perfect.

David Lapham is really a good story teller. He knows how to keep the audience hidden then pull the rug out from them. It was such a good issue. I do wish we would have gotten a little more emotions from Mr. Quinlan but I got enough that I was disappointed.

Mike Huddleston does a great job of setting up the different times and places of this issue. He had to do some research because it is pretty spot on and beautifully drawn.

Overall, The Strain: The Night Eternal #4 does a reveal right.
