Halo: Escalation #12 Review

With a new weapon being discovered on a very routine mission, we have our hero’s dealing with the consequences of finding out the truth, but can they stop it? Read on to find out more.

The official description from Dark Horse:

“Exposure” part 2—Disaster looms as Spartans Ray and Thorne race against time to track down a mysterious new weapon of mass destruction. Duffy Boudreau (BlackAcreBloodshot) and Douglas Franchin bring you the stunning conclusion of another action-packed chapter of the Halo saga!

haloes12p1The last issue we saw our two hero’s Ray and Thorne have to go on an undercover but seemingly routine mission to find out about this desolate planet but the truth is that there was something more there. It was a colony that could really hurt the world and make trouble in all the worse ways. This issue deals with the rest of the crew trying to help and locate our two on the ground. However, the queen of the colony wants the Spartans as a trophy to add to their collection. It is actually pretty dark. Along with this, we have chase scenes, sad moments, and a epic conclusion that really does work well for this arc. I am not sure where they are going next but it will definitely be something to check out.

Duffy Boudreau knows his stuff when it comes to the Halo universe but he does make this series his own. I do worry that people who get already established items feel that they must adhere to much to it but he takes it as his own and does some great stuff with it.

Douglas Franchin is a great artist that knows how to make Halo look just as beautiful as the video game. He, also, knows how to bring the game excitement to life with the art.

Halo: Escalation is a fantastic issue and a neat ending.
