Alice Cooper #3 Review

The king of the underworld and the man of your dreams continues in this dark comic but does it continue to be as exciting as you want. Rock on to find out more.

The official description from Dynamite:

The Lord of All Nightmares has returned to his realm. But the demonic Andronicus Black and Clan Black aren’t backing off, looking to drag their ‘client’ back into the fold by any means necessary.

Alice03-2-df661So again, I have to say that this comic is very interesting because it is taking a legend and making him into something more, a god of some sort. It is crazy. This issue really does a lot to show you the back story of Alice Cooper. It is very insane and crazy. First off, it allows us to be introduced to Lucius, who is not a very good person and, in fact, causes more problems for our “hero”. However, the one thing that this issue does, is that it shows us the madness and ideas behind Alice and his crazy shows. It is literally all done for the fans and causing shock value for the whole show. We see him dealing with wanting it bigger and badder but it is at a cost that may not be worth it. It is very intense but it adds to the character and gives more insight that allows us to be invested in the character. Personally, I think that this is the best issue of the comic so far.

Joe Harris shows us in this issue, he knows how to make us care about someone that we wouldn’t see as conventional. I love Alice Cooper but I can see where it would be hard to care about him because of his macabre but Harris allows us to do just that.

Eman Casallos brings a nice balance of light and dark with the art in this issue. You could tell where it would be hard to keep that balance with a comic that is so dark but it is done with ease.

Alice Cooper #3 opens some doors and allows us to look into the character.
