The official description from Aspen:

Your journey into the FATHOM Universe begins here!

Michael Turner’s best-selling Fathom series has celebrated over 15 years of thrilling adventures, and now fans and new readers alike can dive even deeper into the depths of the Fathom Universe with Aspen’s first-ever FATHOM: SOURCEBOOK! Jam-packed from cover to cover with detailed character profiles, in-depth power charts, revealing story elements and so much more–this is the definitive source to learn about all things Fathom!

Fathom-Sourcebook 1_BIt’s crazy to think that this property has been in and around since 1998. Time flies but I must say that, for me and many others, this is one enduring franchise that deserves attention from curious onlookers. And this one-shot might just be the guidebook they need to get interested.

Michael Turner launched a tale of two worlds: “the one we know and the one below.” The ocean, a great depth full of endless possibilities that in my own estimation has been handled the same way for decades by various creators and publishers. Fathom changed my perspective on that subject and within its framework the various teams got me invested early with a new realm ripe for exploration. And to his credit Hannibal Tabu did a masterful job compiling this text heavy affair that goes into just about every single prominent aspect of the lasting adventure series.

If you’re new to the title then I can’t recommend this enough because from our protagonist, Aspen Matthews. to a lengthy section about her people, The Blue, just about every necessary inch of this several volume series is covered. And just for good measure we’re treated with an impressive array of images collected from through out its run. And whether it’s the creator himself or not each page is adorned with impressive renditions that are bound to please.

Fathom: Sourcebook #1 has a bit of a steep price, but the content therein is quality for both newcomers and seasoned readers. It’s not a normal comic to review but nonetheless it gets a recommendation.
