Master Cartoonist GILBERT HERNANDEZ Will Work On WONDER WOMAN

DC just announced that master cartoonist Gilbert Hernandez, the one behind Heartbreak Soup and Palomar will be writing and drawing a Wonder Woman story in an installment of the upcoming Digital First DC series Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman.

Gilbert Hernandez is not a newcomer to DC Comics. He co-authored nine issues of the Vertigo series Yeah! with Peter Bagge and helmed his own Vertigo series called Grip: The Strange World of Men.

Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman will be a weekly Digital First out-of-continuity series that will be collected and printed monthly just like DC West Coast’s other titles.

We don’t know exactly what Hernandez will be doing, we just know that he will be penning a story that will be available in Sensation Comics #3 but that issue also features a story by Sean E. Williams and fashion/commercial illustrator Margeurite Sauvage.

We know that one of the stories will be about other-dimensional androids, and the other will be about Wonder Woman’s rock star days (she had rock star days?). Comics Alliance predicts that Hernandez will be penning the rock star one.

Hernandez has drawn Wonder Woman before, lending his pen in sketches for the Women of Wonder Day charity event multiple times over the years.

The new series will be the first time in decades that Wonder Woman will have more than one solo series being published at the same time and the first story arc will be penned by Batgirl writer, Gail Simone.
