Grimm Fairy Tales presents Wonderland-Through the Looking Glass 2_CI have to say that covering this shared experience is easily my favorite portion of a universe populated by highborns and falsebloods.  Much of that credit is due to the stellar creative teams’ behind these devilishly twisted festivities, and this latest entry is certainly no different.

Pat Shand and Raven Gregory continue to work together and pen a script that makes use of what came before while touching on familiar themes.  I’m not going to lie, it’s fun seeing Johnny before he becomes the monster we all know he’s destined to be, and that right there is what makes this adventure work.  As all romps having to do with Wonderland, it’s a tale of madness that combines real fear with certain doubt as our protagonist attempts to find a way to escape this realm.  In short: it’s another good entry that might just impress.

The art by Alessandro Miracolo and Claudio Avella is a fitting visual component to this experience.  Looking at the basic structure that’s offered up with the addition of some solid nuances there’s a lot to enjoy here.  That said I found a few moments to be underwhelming as visualizations left me wanting a bit more detail to ultimately sell the inherent authenticity of this eager to please but thoroughly crazy odyssey.

Grimm Fairy Tales presents Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass #2 is yet another stellar entry that suffers from some cosmetic blemishes.  But nonetheless there’s enough here to earn a strong recommendation.
