GREG PAK Promises SUPERMAN: DOOMED Will Be Worse Than We Thought

Warning: Potential spoilers for upcoming Superman: Doomed.

During an interview with Newsarama, Action Comics writer, Greg Pak attempts to set the internet at ease about their concerns that SUPERMAN: DOOMED is merely going to be a rehash of the 1990’s Death and Return of Superman storyline.

Initially, people were led to believe that Superman already died in The New 52 continuity because of hints in Action Comics and various comments by DC Executives but DC shocked the internet two weeks ago when they revealed that Superman may not have actually died.

Within hours of the announcement, the internet exploded with cynical indifference towards the storyline saying that it’s just going to be another Death and Return of Superman thing all over again, but Greg Pak’s statements to Newsarama today suggest that the storyline is going to be an even bigger train wreck than the last one.

We’re telling a brand new Doomsday story set in the present. So we’re not delving into the past or retelling the classic “Death of Superman” tale. This is a brand new story relevant to all the characters and storylines running through the books in the here and now, and it’ll blow your mind with its repercussions and ramifications for the future.

These statements cause great concern over the direction the Super-titles will be taking this year because they can only mean one thing – Superman probably isn’t going to die.

For one thing, this reporter is absolutely outraged that they are going to flip the tables on us, making us think Superman is going to die and then, you know, not dying. That’s just underhanded and mean.

If the solicited covers are anything to go by, instead of a dead Superman, we’re going to get a DOOMED Superman. You know, because he’s been Doomsday-ed? It’s obvious that DC Comics is trying to be clever here, but they are not fooling us here at UnleashTheFanboy – we’re on to their plan.

Pak also goes on to say that “You think you know who Doomsday is and what he does. But we’re taking it to a whole new level — with action that will shock and thrill you and emotional consequences that will cut to the quick and force Clark to make the hardest choices of his life.”

Do these choices include turning into a misshapen Doomsday-like monster in a Superman costume?
