Full Preview of Avengers vs X-Men #1

We’re drawing closer to the April release of Marvel’s newest event book, Avengers vs X-Men, and the House of Ideas has been kind enough to unveil this new 7-page preview of the first issue. By the looks of things, I’d wager that this book has the chance to be the best crossover title since Civl War. Check it out below:

Even though we’ve only been given a brief glimpse fo this 12 part series, I’m already convinced that it’s a far more natural story than the rest of Marvel’s event books. There’s always been tensions between the classic heroes, like the Avengers, and the more ‘underground’ elements of society, as in the X-Men.

Just compare this premise with Siege, Fear Itself, Secret Invasion, and Civil War. All of those stories were plagued with forced, grandiose scales, and some pretty bizarre character progression. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed every single one of them, but you can’t tell me that the vilification of Iron Man in Civil War made any real sense to the character as a whole. There’s always been a natural tension between groups like the Avengers and X-Men, and that natural conflict is what I’m looking forward to most.
