Cyber Force #4 Review

The second to last free issue of the brand new Cyber Force series is here, but is the title starting to lose its edge?  Read on to find out.

The official description from Image:

RIPCLAW UNLEASHED!

With the aid of Velocity, Ripclaw has been able to resurrect the rebel Cyber Force faction from complete obliteration at the hands of the CDI corporation. But where can you run when you are hiding in a city that is completely owned, operated, and monitored by those who want you dead most?

With the end of the world literally baring down on them, the pieces of this rather gigantic puzzle are slowly but surely coming together.  The covert corporation that owns and operates within the technologically advanced Milenium City has set the stage for conflict as we march toward the end of this opening arc

Marc Silvestri delivers another script that echoes not only the originality of the piece but also the origins of this franchise.  We finally have our main crew together (more or less) as the clock heading towards doomsday begins to wind down.  I was instantly floored by the comedic timing found withing these pages, as the author allowed levity even as things for our team continued to look rather bleak.  From start to finish the comic was highly entertaining as it yielded several segments that should get eager readers instantly excited for next month’s outing.

The art by Khoi Pham is just as solidly rendered as ever, as a unique and rather minimalist hand guides this technologically prone series.  Each pencil stroke breathes life to this world in a way that captures a bold vision while uplifting key components from the past.  With that said however there were several instances where the lack of detail left characters looking a tad bit underdeveloped resulting in a few lackluster sequences.

Cyber Force #4 is a thrilling addition to this series, that’s simply an addicting ride from start to finish.  Add to that the fact that it’s free and you have absolutely no reason not to give this comic book a fair chance.   Recommended.
