Two New IP’s “Rain” and “Until Dawn” Trademarked By Sony

Thanks to the team at OnlySP, we recently found out that Sony has trademarked to new titles, “Rain” and “Until Dawn”. Both games were filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, “Rain” underwent the process on July 30th, whereas “Until Dawn” just went through on 1st August.

We know they’re video games from the Class Status of the trademarks being “Computer game software; Video game software,” so that’s cleared that up. Very little other data can be extracted from this report, so we have no inkling what platform they will appear on. Except the guys at OnlySP have done a little more digging!

Back in April there was a leak of an animated GIF going around that almost certainly showed an unannounced game. The content of the game? Hand to hand combat and action taking place in, you guess it, a rainstorm. Could this leak be for the unannounced Rain? There is speculation that this could be Sucker Punch’s (inFAMOUS, Sly Cooper) next game as the gif has certain similarities to the inFAMOUS games.

In regards to Until Dawn, nothing is known except that the title surfaced earlier in the year, apparently in connection to a horror title for the Move peripheral.

This is all we know right now, but will bring you more news as it comes. It seems likely that these games will make an appearance at Gamescom later this month. Perhaps they will announce a trilogy of ‘Heavy Rain’, ‘Rain’ and ‘Light Showers’ following the character Ethan Mars as his life gets progressively better and more optimistic.
