Square Enix to Release Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Collection

It’s no argument that Final Fantasy leads the RPG genre. (Though Zelda would probably like to argue that.) This year marks the 25th anniversary for the franchise. This is yet another 25th one, we’ve had anniversaries for Mario, Link, and Samus in the past two years. Similar to what Nintendo did for the red-hatted plumber, Square is releasing an anniversary collection, and it’s huge. It features the thirteen core games, from the first Final Fantasy to XIII. It also features an art collection, a soundtrack CD with two discs, a ‘special anniversary disc,’ among other cool stuff.

This ‘Ultimate Box’ will be priced at 35,000 Yen, which translates to roughly $447 in US dollars. Would make a great pack for any new fan looking to get into the franchise, and for the hardcore fans. It’ll be released exclusively in the Square Enix store in Japan on December 12th . Whether or not it’ll be released elsewhere remains to be seen. I’d be honestly surprised if it got a stateside release, we’ll have to wait and see.
