Playstation All-Stars has seemingly split gamers opinion into two main camps: It’s a morally and creatively corrupt rip off of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros, or it’s good to see someone else’s take on the four way arena fighter and look, there’s all these other characters we love! I’ll make it clear right now, I fall into the latter of the camps. Sure they have similar mechanics and styles but do you argue Battlefield 3 can’t exist because Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 does? They are the same genre, but have different takes on it. Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario Bros can’t exist together they’re both 2D platformers where you run from left to right. How dare Sega besmirch Nintendo’s greatest plumber with this blatant copy.

Not everyone feels this way though, as Hideki Kamiya, Platinum Games developer and creator of Bayonetta and Viewtiful Joe, has made clear on his twitter:

So, I guess he isn’t a fan. He claims to be totally uninterested in the game and when shown the response his tweets had caused he simply responded “Who cares?”. It’s rare to have such an outspoken individual openly crap on another team’s game, but it is fun to watch. I guess this means we wont be seeing Bayonetta in All-Stars. What do you think about All-Stars, blatant rip off or interesting fighting game?
