OnLive Give Away 4 Free Indie Games

Forget the news of looming debt, OnLive have still been running these promotions for a couple of weeks now but here’s the final weekends line up of freebies: Dear Esther, Defense Grid Gold, Lume and PoP – Methodology Experiment One. All you have to do to claim these 4 games is head to the OnLive Facebook page, click through some links and your library will be four titles richer. It’s really that easy and no credit card required.

Here’s a deeper look at each of the games:

Dear Esther

Synopsis: Dear Esther is a first-person ghost story. Rather than traditional game-play the focus here is on exploration, uncovering the mystery of a lonely island, of who you are and why you are here. Fragments of story are randomly uncovered when exploring the various locations of the island, making every each journey a unique experience. – Metacritic

Metacritic Rating: 77

Lume

Synopsis: An illuminating puzzle adventure! With a set built entirely out of paper and cardboard, and sumptuously filmed, Lume is a game with a style unlike any other. Power to your grandads house has failed. Whats more, he’s nowhere to be seen.

Immerse yourself in Lumes photoreal world, solve perplexing paper puzzles to help restore the power, and uncover a deeper mystery behind the blackout. This game forms Part 1 of a larger, ongoing story. – Metacritic

Metacritic Rating: 69

PoP – Methodology Experiment One

Synopsis: In POP, the player plays through a series of erratic minigames stylistically tied with the music. The vignettes are interconnected by idiosyncratic videos creating a purposefully disjointed experience. POP is an experimental game in the most literal sense.

The game was purposefully built in way that explores a different approach to the typical game development pipelines. It was developed by first approaching the music and running with the first game concept that happened to emerge during that creative process. POP was developed independently by a sole developer. It was self-funded with the proceeds from auxiliary contract work. – PopMe1

Metacritic Rating – N/A

Defense Grid Gold

Defense Grid: The Awakening is a strategy game where players place defense fortifications (towers) to stop invading aliens from stealing power cores from their bases. It is up to the player to select the towers, placement, and timing to best protect the base. This mix of strategy and puzzle gameplay promises to be very fun and engaging. – Hidden Path Entertainment

Metacritic Rating – 81

If you do nothing else, make sure you pick up Dear Esther as that is a great experience and different to most other games out there.  As OnLive have a deal with Ouya, if you are considering picking one of those up it would be well worth adding these games to your library now in anticipation of the upcoming open source console.
