The Iceman Cometh in Batman: Arkham Origins DLC ‘Cold, Cold Heart’ Trailer

The latest episode of DC Comics’ All Access web show has revealed the first trailer for “Cold, Cold Heart,” the new DLC for Batman: Arkham Origins. The new DLC will focus on the origin story of Mr. Freeze and Batman’s first encounter with him in the Arkham video game universe.

Ames Kirshen, Vice President of Production at WB Games, described the DLC as an additional “mini-chapter” for Arkham Origins, similar to the Harley Quinn’s Revenge DLC from Batman: Arkham City. He also revealed that Batman will have to upgrade his suit in order to deal with Freeze’s cryogenic weapons, which according to Oracle, he’ll try to fight head on at first. The new suit will alter gameplay and help Batman survive against extreme conditions.

From first glance, it looks like the DLC is heavily influenced by the popular Batman: The Animated Series episode “Heart of Ice”, with Mr. Freeze attacking Gothcorp CEO Ferris Boyle while receiving a Humanitarian Award. Personally, I’m thinking Bats will end up wearing a snowsuit similar to the one he wore in The Batman to take down Freeze. As an added bonus, I think it would be interesting to have Troy Baker (the voice of the Joker in Arkham Origins) voice Ferris Boyle the same way that Mark Hamill voiced both characters in the aforementioned series.

Since the Mr. Freeze boss battle in Arkham City inspired the boss battles in Arkham Origins, it will be interesting to see how WB Games will depict the fight this time around.
