Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Officially Announced For A November Release

The worst-kept gaming secret of 2012 has now been officially confirmed: the ninth entry in the Call of Duty series; Black Ops 2 is coming your way in November. And yes, I know you already knew about this. I did. Everyone did. But with Activision confirming the game, it’s now 100% certain. But just because COD 9 carries the Black Ops title, it doesn’t mean that this game will be what you would expect from a Black Ops sequel.

For the first time in the series, Black Ops 2 will be heading to the future. Don’t get too excited, it’s not far future, with aliens, laser guns and time travel (although I’d love it to be that) – it’s going to be set in a future 21st century Cold War.

“Pushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare”, says the official website. Maybe we will get laser guns after all.

A couple of screenshots have also hit, and you can take a look below:

The cover art for the game has also been released for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC:

Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 13 (North America) and November 16 (Europe).
