ASSASSIN’S CREED IV Manga to Launch in Japan Next Month!

Manga adaptions of video games aren’t uncommon at all. Pokémon, Ratchet and Clank, Kirby, Mega Man, Boktai, Street Fighter, and others have all received numerous manga. Still, the concept is new for Assassin’s Creed, which will be getting its own manga this August!

Shueisha announced that the Assassin’s Creed IV manga will run in Jump X magazine starting August 10. The series will be drawn by Kendi Oiwa (Welcome to the N.H.K.) and will be written by Takashi Yano, who wrote a novel based off the Sengoku Basara 3 video game.

The Assassin’s Creed IV manga features an original story not in the game, which takes place in the 18th century, during the “Golden Age of Pirates”. The story is centered around Edward Kenway, who gets tangled up in a fight between the Templars and the Assassins.

This will be the first manga based on Assassin’s Creed, although the game series has already spawned several comics and novels. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be released first on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U consoles on October 29, and then on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows in 2014.
