Previously on Persona 4:

The kids saved Nanako, but she died in the hospital. Distraught, the kids seek to take their grief out on Nanatame but eventually come to their senses before things go to far. With thier heads clear, they talk to Namatame and get his side of the story; with new facts about the case coming to light they begin to find out who the real killer is. Spoilers Ahead!

While reassessing the case at Aiya, Yu (Johnny Yong Bosch), Yosuke (Yuri Lowenthal) & Naoto (Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) go outside to think more clearly. As the pieces of the puzzle start to fall into place, Yu & Naoto each come to the same conclusion as to who the killer is. After Yu and Yosuke have a heart to heart, the two return to the hospital in order to both check on Nanako and finally confront the true killer.

Now for the moment you have all been waiting for. The Inaba serial murderer is…TOHRU ADACHI (dun dun dunnnn)!

The story is coming to a close but that doesn’t mean things are slowing down. The tension still remains at an all time high and the steps towards the reveal are deliberate and well paced. But before we get to the main piece of the episode we have a couple more moments to wade through.

Teddie’s (Sam Reigel) origin is finally revealed and as it turns out everyone’s favorite blue bear is in fact a shadow! Teddie was originally a shadow that gained sentience, now while how he exactly did this is not fully explained, it does add to his character and explains how he is in the T.V. Yosuke also gets development in regards to his relationship with Yu. Initially jealous of his best friend because of how quickly he made friends, Yosuke begins to grow a bit when he realizes that he had no reason to feel these feelings and that would always be friends.

The killer reveal is well paced and while at first it feels like it came out of left field, when the case is broken and revealed to the others it all makes sense. Adachi incriminates himself in a throw away line in episode 21 when he claims Namatame is the killer because he has the victims addresses in his journal (except for King Moron). Naoto brings this back up when she grills him and Yu also points out the hole in Adachi’s logic when he states that all of the kidnappings that weren’t murders were never told to the police, implying that he already knew that. There is also details regarding Kubo’s case and how his explanation didn’t match up.

Eventually things spiral out of control and Adachi darts into the T.V. with the kids following after. When they reach him they find out just how he committed the murders as well as bits of his life before he arrived in Inaba. He even has his own Persona.

This isn’t the only thing hanging over the teams heads as Adachi also states that the reason for the constant fog in Inaba is because the real world as well as the T.V. world are soon going to merge, causing everyone to be turned into shadows.

“The World is Full of Sh*t” is a pretty apt title for the episode as it does describe Adachi’s view of the world. The killer reveal is well planned out and the events that led Adachi down his path are pretty unsettling to look at. The investigation continues next week as the team looks to finally bring the killer to justice.
