I remember running home from school, tearing open a fresh box of chocolate Teddy Grahams, and plopping down in front of my magnificent standard definition TV (with a built in VHS!) to watch Toonami every weekday. I had a brief fling with Gundam, but I always chose Dragon Ball Z as my favorite Japanese import. Besides the juvenile voice acting and the ridiculously lengthy power up scenes filled with hours of deep, bowely grunts… the show was pretty damn awesome.
As we all know, its sequel series Dragon Ball GT didn’t fare so well. It was a bit more preposterous than even the zaniest parts of Z, and has been commonly considered “shitty”.
One particular fan decided to amend that blotch on Goku and crew’s record with a new series titled DRAGONBALL ABSALON. It’s a colorfully animated romp on Earth with the remaining heroes as they confront a new threat… one that’s both familiar and bad-fucking-ass.
