The Original IRON THRONE Is So Much Cooler Than The One in GAME OF THRONES

Apparently A Song of Ice and Fire scribe George R. R. Martin was pretty damn serious when he wrote that the Iron Throne was a mangled mess of 1,000 swords forged together by Dragon Fire, because we’ve got our hands on a bit of the original concept art, and it’s far more menacing than the (frankly) humble assembly of battle ravaged swords we’ve seen in the Game of Thrones tv series.

And here’s the original, which is just a whimpering mess when compared to the monstrosity above. I wonder how many times Joffrey’s racked his sack on one of those rusted, chewed up blades. I could only hope that it happens a lot.

And how exactly would King Robert have managed to climb up that big, metal death trap in the books.  He was a giant fat fawk, not to mince words, and I can’t imagine that walking up those stairs was very easy.
