TEEN TITANS GO! “Real Magic” Review

Its the penultimate episode for season 1 of Teen Titans Go!, and the final episode until June. Was the episode good?

Raven (Tara Strong) is obviously the magician of the Titans, but after seeing Mumbo Jumbo do some petty tricks, Robin (Scott Menville) gets inspired to become a magician himself. Unfortunately, he’s pretty inept at it, and Raven becomes frustrated when the other Titans all act like he’s the hottest thing since sliced bread.

Even worse, Raven suspect the “Magic God” will attack Robin for misuse of magic. Can she stop Robin from acting like an idiot and incurring the god’s wrath?

This was a pretty fun episode, and part of the reason is that, since Raven and Robin are polar opposites, it was fun seeing them play off each other. Robin, as usual, is too enthusiastic, and Raven is trying to stay calm, despite being maybe the tiniest bit jealous (not that you can blame her; the other Titans act like her magic stinks…even though it’s real!)

The climax involves the Magic God getting angry, kidnapping Robin and Raven, and attacking the other Titans with evil bunnies. Its actually pretty cool on the action front. But the writers even add a twist, that while you may see coming, will probably make you at least chuckle.

So yeah, pretty funny. I do have some negatives, like how at least two of the jokes go on a bit long. Like, its funny at first, and then it goes on and on. And the other Titans are just annoying.

But over-all, recommended. Maybe you’ll want to become a magician after seeing it.
