Spooked: “Mixed Signals” Review

Now that we’ve reached the half-way point, does this web-series still warrant attention? Read on to find out.

The official description:

The P.I.T. gang are called in to review a case of the extraterrestrial kind following an abduction at a farm as conflict unravels within the team.

Without a doubt we’re given another oddly inviting installment that takes our would be investigators to an interstellar place. Last time we dealt with a traditional paranormal encounter but here the horizon expands as these ghost hunters stick to the core of their mission. For over twenty minutes there’s a good deal of plot that comes out in ways that are bound to have ramifications as the love triangle takes center stage while Lindsey (Neil Grayston) can barely hide his glee for the mission at hand.

Spooked EP2 Screenshot BFirst and foremost the genre references are spot on while the narrative stays on track so that we can see our main characters face the decisions that are bubbling to the surface. Connor (Julian Curtis) has a lot of positives going his way but he can’t get past his old girlfriend to see them. On the other side quirky but entertaining Elliot (Derek Mio) knows what he wants and can’t have it. Add Morgan (Ashley Johnson) to the mix and it’s understandable why she’s caught in the middle while young Piper (Shyloh Oostwald) remains focused on the case.

Spooked EP2 ScreenshotOnce again the episode is written by Michael Gene Conti and Felicia Day, so you can expect the dialogue to be full of spunk with just enough development for our main players to make the whole yarn worthwhile. Add in the work by director Richard Martin and the latest release for this mini-series easily garners attention. If you have any doubts just sit back, relax and enjoy because trust me it all comes together in a rather engaging but funny crescendo.

Spooked: “Mixed Signals” proves to be entertaining with laughs and heart as the Paranormal Investigation Team does their thing. And so the show continues to offer enough worthwhile features to garner both fan attention and critic praise. Recommended.
