Spider-Man DIY Shoes

I just made the dopest shoes ever in all of the multi-verse and I’m going to share my secrets.  I love Spidey, especially Miles Morales, so why not put him all over my feet?  Welcome to greatest DIY tutorial ever!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Supplies:

  • A pair of white canvas shoes- I bought laceless so I wouldn’t have to color around the holes (and cause I’m too lazy to tie my shoes).  You can buy Converses if you are fancy, but I am cheap so I bought Airwalkers from Payless.
  • Permanent fabric markers (red and black)
  • Scissors
  • Cardboard for stencils
  • water proofing spray (This is optional if you feel like being super protective.)

Instructions:

  • Make sure your shoes aren’t dirty.

  • Cut out a stencil for the eyes, and place them on the shoes side by side so they resemble his iconic mask.

  • Trace around the stencils using a red marker. (I traced with a pencil first, but mistakenly pressed too hard. It was a pain in the touchas to erase those markings, so if you use a pencil, press lightly.)
  • Draw the webs in red (again, you can lightly outline the webs in pencil first).  Always start with the lighter color first because you can color over mistakes with the black marker later.

  • Color the area between the webs black.

  • Live, love, laugh, recolor the whole damn thing over again two times and/or spray it down with water proofing spray.  I did three coats of the paint because I loved the shoes so much that I wanted to make sure they last.  It also made the colors much deeper with each coat.  It took a long, long time, but it was so worth it.

Miles is one of my favorite characters and now I get to rock one-of-a-kind shoes showing my love for him.  You can also use this method to make other designs on shoes or even just draw comic characters all over them.  Have fun.
