Screenshots From The Game Of Thrones Extended Trailer!

With less than a month until the third season of Game of Thrones airs HBO is finally giving up the goods in terms of new images and, most importantly, footage. Yesterday, an extended trailer hit the interwebs adding a few glimpses of what’s to come this season.

Beware, the post is long and full of spoilers.

Adding to the first trailers images of wildlings climbing the wall and Mance Rayder’s threats of fire, this trailer shows Jon Snow (who knows nothing, really) and Ygritte ready to deal a touch of old way justice to a frightened looking wildling. Snow spends almost all of A Storm of Swords with the wildlings which means we can expect wildling related drama at least through this season. I’m not exactly sure who this particular wildling is, however, or if he is a wildling at all.

Jon Snow may know nothing, but he sure makes a good sword face.

Any bets on who the lucky man is?

One of the most enjoyable (and terrifying) threads of the third book is Jaime and Brienne’s road trip across Westeros. Their relationship is half odd-couple road trip, half-tragic and frightening horror story. The new trailer offers two brief moments from their story, a glimpse of Jaime and Brienne’s doing combat and a brief shot of Brienne in what might be the bear pit of Harrenhal. At the very least, we know that HBO’s not pulling any punches in their story.

It’s a classic road comedy, but bloodier.

Bears: Not cuddly.

It’s also nice to finally see an image of Thoros of Myr. Thoros is a tiny part of the third book but he is important to the story overall and it’s nice to see more of him in this trailer than we got in the original.

The night is dark, and full of beardies.

One thing that I didn’t like about the second season was the exclusion of Jojen and Meera Reed. I’m happy to see them get a proper introduction and some screen time in this trailer but I’m mostly just happy that Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Sam from Love Actually) is playing him.

Jojen Reed: Badass frog-eater.

Finally, the trailer offers a bit more of an extravagant scene of Dany and her dragons at sea. HBO is leaning heavily on the dragon imagery in their season three advertising which hopefully means more actual dragons in the episodes themselves.

Did anyone else spot anything in the trailer? Maybe some fun wedding shots? Post to comments if so.
