Scarlett Johansson Photoshopped To Be WAY Skinnier in New Captain America: The Winter Soldier Poster
I’m usually not the guy to bring this up, but after seeing Scarlett Johansson’s gaunt form in the new Captain America: The Winter Soldier poster, I got a teeny tiny bit irked.
Not that I’m a massive, passive consumer, but with thousands of photoshopped women popping up in advertisements everyday, I’ve more or less accepted that blond, flesh covered perfect-a-bots are the thing people want to see. And honestly, I’ve got no reason to be snarky about it (especially when you see my browser history).
BUT… I wish the powers that be, Marvel Studios in this scenario, wouldn’t have delved so greedily and so deep (like the dwarves of Moria) with their latest marketing efforts. As an avid fan of both Black Widow as a character and Scarlett Johansson’s body (that’s my one, obligatory fanbro joke), this poster looks nothing like her. Yeah, the Photographer and PS masters used some perspective tricks to make Scarlett seem taller, but the body is still longer and thinner than Johansson normally is.
Check out this poster of Black Widow from The Avengers and compare it to the Winter Soldier one.
Pretty big difference, right? Sure, there’s a discrepancy in the belt position, which could account for a tiny bit of weight. In The Avengers pic, the traditional Black Widow double belt creates a teeny tiny muffin top, and in The Winter Soldier poster, they’re both very lax. Also, if you notice, The Winter Soldier uses sunlight to trick your brain into forgetting an extra few inches on Johansson’s waist, which is an extra step beyond the actual ‘thinning’ photoshop efforts they’ve taken.
I love Marvel, and I love Scarlett Johansson (although Olga Kurylenko was my number 1 choice for the role), but this photoshopped version of Black Widow has got to go. Honestly! Marvel hired Scarlett Johansson because she’s hot and popular. If you’re just gonna edit her body on a macbook, then what was the point?
