Matt Damon As AQUAMAN? No Bullsh*t.

I wish I could make this stuff up (because I’m a terrible liar, and I totally want that devious skill) but according to the latest Hollywood gab, Matt Damon of the Hobbiton Damons is rumored for a cameo role as Aquaman in Batman Vs Superman. That role would lead into a full blown casting in 2017’s Justice League Movie.

No joke.

Here’s what they said:

“One casting rumor that has been circulating around Hollywood for more than a year is that Affleck’s close friend and collaborator Matt Damon is being sought to play Aquaman, though to be fair, Jason Momoa has also been rumored for that role (among others), and he is expected to appear in “Batman vs. Superman” in some unknown capacity.” – Jeff Sneider

Yeah, Jason Momoa seems like the far more likely candidate. If director Zack Snyder is aiming for a “barbarian king” aesthetic for this new cinematic Aquaman, Momoa is far better than Damon. He’s already perfectly portrayed a horse riding nomad in Game of Thrones, and an acceptable iteration of Arnold Shwarzenegger’s classic Conan, so what’s a King of Atlantis between us?

Matt Damon would be INSANELY goofy as a regal aqua monarch, too. If Aquaman were adapted as a pseudo-Thor. In the sense that character was transformed into a modern American in the original comics to counter his audacious Asgardian personality. If Aquaman is an orphan, abandoned on land, and ignorant of his powers, then I’d have a better time believing him as a superhero. But if Damon is meant to be a Cockney accented, kingly, underwater lord… then that’s just silly. He’s too folksy.
