MARVEL SUPERHEROES Join the Circus… and Ice Skate!

Marvel and Ice Skating finally meet! Is Wolverine agile enough to execute the amazing lutzes, axels, and toe loops? With which lovely lady will Dr. Doom chose to skate pairs?

Who, like me, has read Days of the Future Past and thought to themselves “this is exquisite, but this mutant holocaust would be even more beautiful choreographed and performed on ice”? The Associated Press reports that Marvel has signed a deal with Feld Entertainment Inc., the fine folks who produce Disney on Ice, and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.  Feld will produce live arena shows internationally and domestically featuring all the lovable Marvel Characters!

This is great news for me, as I recently attended Disney on Ice hoping to see my favorite super-manly action stars like Aladdin and Stitch but ended up disappointed when all I saw was stinky girly girl princesses. I cannot wait to see The Incredible Hulk perform as the incredible tightrope walker.  I look forward to Nightcrawler as a real life acrobat. My only worry is that this could turn racist as mutants have historically been exploited as circus freaks.

Production costs are expected to exceed $10 million, some of which is rumored to be funded by the Kingpin himself, who loves the arts, especially the deadly Daredevil stunts. The expected opening date is July 2014.

As a bit of a comparison, the live action Marvel super show Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark, which is running on Broadway, ended up costing around a trillion dollars more than expected, most of which was spent during its 5,000 weeks of practice runs. This is not expected to be a problem for Feld Entertainment as they will probably use the already trained Disney Characters to play your beloved ice skating superheroes and mass murdering super villains!
