LOKI HAS A BRIGHT FUTURE IN THE MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE

It seems all those years of mischief are paying off for Marvel Comics’ Loki. Once a trivial villain in the comics’ universe (otherwise known as Earth 616), he has easily become one of the most popular in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (aka Earth-199999). Not only did he manage to embarrass and torment his brother Thor in his debut movie, but he was also THE reason for the Avengers ‘assembling’ onto the silver screen. With all that ability, it’s hard to believe that he lost the battle for New York.

But whatever power he lacks in the movies, he more than makes up for in our world. Loki actor Tom Hiddleston stole the spotlight at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 by appearing in full costume during the preview for Thor: The Dark World. 7,000 attendees were in complete awe as Hiddleston quoted famous dialogue from The Avengers and referred to the on stage panelists as “muelling quims” (which apparently is an ancient way or cussing someone out). Despite the crowd’s reaction, Joss Whedon made it clear that fans shouldn’t expect the villain in The Avengers sequel (the title Age of Ultron kind of gave it away). Kevin Feige, however, announced that Loki still has a place in movies.

“We think Loki could be the ‘big bad’ for us, for a long time.”

With two movies already under his belt, a third on the way, and possibilities for more appearances, it seems Loki is finally getting the respect he craves. Not bad for a ‘puny god’.
