Humorous GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Post-Credits Scene Leaked!

SPOILERS AHEAD…though nothing too revealing to the plot.

Guardians of the Galaxy has already hits theaters in several countries around the world, and will come out tomorrow in the United States. However, as with most movies, there have been early premieres around the world in the past week, so the chosen few (namely celebrities and critics) have already seen Marvel’s intergalactic adventure…with one exception. One of the post-credits was left out of these pre-screeners because director James Gunn wanted regular audiences to be the first to see it. Well, as any self-respecting comic book fan does, someone has leaked the after-credits scene for all the of the Internet to enjoy.

I’ll say it again: SPOILERS AHEAD. If you don’t want to know anything about Guardians of the Galaxy before seeing it in theaters, DO NOT WATCH THIS. I’ll give you a couple seconds…all right, everyone who’s still around, let’s take a look.

All right, let’s get one thing straight: I don’t care how much of a comic book fan you are, you do not shout “It was Howard the freakin’ Duck” out loud in a theater. He is not worth that amount of excitement. An Avengers: Age of Ultron set-up would have been acceptable. Hell, I may even someone a pass if Richard Rider appeared, but Howard the Duck? No way. When it comes to the Duck, chuckle softly to yourself and leave it at that.

Regardless, that was a fun cameo from Howard and Cosmo the space dog. I can’t quite make out what Howard said to The Collector, but I think it was, “What do you let him lick you like that for? Grothh!” They certainly got his speech impediment down. By the way, it looks like Collector has taken quite the beating. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but by what I quickly read about the character on Wikipedia, it wouldn’t surprise me if he somehow earned the ire of the Guardians and got a beat-down.

Starting with The Avengers (although Iron Man 3 didn’t do this), Marvel movies have had a trend of giving us two post-credit scenes: one hinting at a future film, and the other one comedic, unless it’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, in which both scenes hinted to future moves.  My point is that this looks like the fun post-credits scene for Guardians of the Galaxy. I hope they include one which has more set-up to another film, but from what little I’ve heard, it sounds like the other one might be comedic as well. What a shame. Like many, I was hoping for more Thanos set-up, but I guess we’ll just have to settle for what we have, which is already pretty spectacular.

More importantly: does this mean we’ll see Howard in a bigger role for Guardians of the Galaxy 2? Let’s hope not. He’s amusing for a few seconds, but it’s not worth him having a major film role again.
