“Honored,” is how Terry Crews would feel to be playing Luke Cage

With Netflix beginning production on Daredevil one of its three new original Marvel series (the others are Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Powerman) speculation continues regarding who will be filling out Luke Cage’s tight yellow shirt.  While doing press junkets and plugging the new watered down Expendables flick Digital Spy asked Terry Crews about Powerman and if it was in his future.  Crews responded,

“It could be, it could be. I’m waiting for a call from Marvel. I mean, I haven’t heard anything, but if I could and it worked into the schedule … but I have to say, that would be something I would be privileged and honored to do.”

This is one of the few times casting seems very simple.  Terry Crews has the look and superhuman physique to play Luke Cage, few actors would be as natural fit as Crews.  Beyond that, and most importantly he is a damn fine actor.  He’s currently turning in amazing and very different performances on Brooklyn 99 and The Newsroom. He can handle both serious drama and absurdest comedy, a feat few actors can.  Coming from an NFL career, and three Expendables flicks there is no doubt the physical demands of the role would well within his capabilities.  Crews also has an amazing work ethic and can paint at a professional level.  He is a Jack of all trades and would be an amazing Power Man.  Feel free to tell me why I’m wrong in the comments below.
