Geek Fuel April 2015 Unboxing: UPDATED STAR WARS GIVEAWAY

Geek Fuel is a monthly comic con in a box subscription service that will run you $23.90 a month.  If you order multiple boxes at once though you will be hooked up with various discounts and bonuses. Is April’s box worth the cash?  You be the judge.

The first items that caught my eye when I opened my box were Star Wars Jelly Belly Beans and Avengers Assemble Candy Sticks.  While my wife enjoyed the Jelly Beans, candies to me feel like a cheap extra meant to pad out an otherwise weak collection.  A pair of Kingdom Wars Battles decals and a downloadable game code was the next item that caught my eye.  While I’m not familiar with this MMO, this is no slouch item.  The Retro Videogame magazine I saw next is the type of periodical that I know I will end up reading beginning to end.   Though I should mention I bought my WII mostly for the WII arcade as I am a bit of a side scrolling junkie.

I always get a kick out of the blind boxes.  Geek Fuel this month included DC Comics Series 3 Scribblenaughts Unmasked pack, and now the Superman I got sits beside Wonder Woman in my liqueur cabinet.   As a responsible adult I like to have something that draws young eyes to the booze.  Also included was a coffee cup with a series of lockers clearly owned by the Avengers with the label Breakstuff Club.  While I don’t like John Hughes (deal with it) I can still appreciate this mug.

Geek Fuel includes an exclusive T-Shirt each month and March’s is Turtles Assemble.  For me this is the box highlight.  April and the turtles take on the roles of the Avengers and its a mash-up that works perfectly.  Think of all the crazy outfits the various TMNT action figures wore, why wouldn’t they also be the Avengers?

So the question is did you think this box was worth $23.90?  It depends on your tastes.  If I was a MMO game fan than absolutely.  Without that the figure, t-shirt, magazine and mug are a pretty damn good by my account.  March subscribers also have a 1 in 40 chance of wining an Avengers Age of Ultron ticket voucher.  If you’re still unsure  and  you would like a box for free…go here for a chance to win a box at no cost.  As a reader of Unleash the Fanboy if you would like to order Geek Fuel click here for a bonus item available to our readers.
