Yay! Yay! YAY! Following the not so stellar box office performance of Pacific Rim, the future of an awesome cinematic property was left in doubt. That is until Godzilla returned and made an environment where studio heads felt like there might be something more to be gained from this Guillermo del Toro franchise.
And with a sequel currently in active development we’re getting some details regarding an upcoming comic book series spinoff titled Pacific Rim: Tales from the Drift!
Following the best-selling graphic novel Pacific Rim: Tales from Year Zero, Legendary takes you back to the frontlines of a larger-than-life battleground with Pacific Rim: Tales From the Drift, the official new comic series presented by director Guillermo del Toro and Pacific Rim screenwriter Travis Beacham. Prepare to do battle with all-new Kaiju creatures in this thrilling continuation of the Pacific Rim universe.
The four issue mini-series is written by Joshua Fialkov with art by Marcos Marz. It’s aiming for a November 2015 launch and I for one could not be happier. Who doesn’t want to see some more Jaeger and Kaiju action and on a monthly basis. You can count me in Legendary Comics, because this is one reviewer who will eagerly follow these shenanigans near the end of the year.
But what do you think my fellow fanboys and fangirls? Do you really want more from this world of monsters? Or was one flick enough?
