With the show opener still fresh in our minds, the stories just keep coming about casting choices well into the season of the CW’s The Flash. The newest addition to the cast is Victor Garber who has six Emmy nominations under his belt. He is slated to appear as Dr. Martin Stein who just happens to be one half of Firestorm, a Justice League alumni.
This is just one of the multitude of DC canon characters that will make an appearance in The Flash this year. In the this weeks episode, we’ve already been introduced to Barry, his dad, Iris, the Weather Wizard as well as allusions to future appearances by Vibe, Gorilla Grodd, Killer Frost and, major nemesis, Professor Zoom.
The ‘other half’ of Firestorm, Ronnie Raymond, was cast months ago as exective producer, Gary Berlanti, announced that Robbie Amell (The Tomorrow People) will play him on around episode 8 and that Stein would appear around episode 12. Berlanti also said they were aiming high up the Justice League roster:
Between Arrow and Flash, we’ll have half the Justice League on our two shows this year.
Executive Producter, Andrew Kreisberg, announced the eighth episode will also be apart of an Arrow crossover/
[Spoiler: expect sparks between Queen and Allen over a certain blonde]
Berlanti has also announced the inclusion of Rogue alumi Leaonard Snart, aka Captian Cold.
We’ll be seeing his origin [story] and the origin of the Rogues.
That being said, Caitlin Snow (who may or may not become Killer Frost) won’t be the only Firestorm character showing up on The Flash. Multiplex will be appearing in episode two as one of the number of ‘Metahumans‘ showing up after the superconductor incident. With the ability to create duplicates of himself, he will be a good challenge for The Flash.
Also announced months ago, Firestorm villain Plastique may be coming along for the ride. Kelly Frye will play Bette San Souci; a bomb disposal expert. Will she be one of the Metahumans? Will she actually become Plastique? If she does, that’ll be fun as she has the power to turn ANYTHING into a explosive. Watch for her around episode 5.
Looks to be a massive year on The Flash. With all of the Easter Eggs popping everywhere, I’m feeling like Peter Cottontail! It’s going to be interesting to see how much Firestorm plays in the grand scheme of things and, especially, the Arrow/Flash crossover!
