Exclusive: STAR WARS Fighter Pilots Talk About The Future of the Franchise

Earlier this week we had a quick chat with Jeremy Bulloch, known to many for playing the iconic role of Boba Fett in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, about what he thought regarding the announcement of a new Star Wars Trilogy last week which you can read HERE.

We reached out to several actors who have been a part of the Star Wars saga to see what they felt about the recent news.

Richard Bonehill, who appeared in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi as a host of characters, including; Ree- Yees, a Snowtrooper, Nein Nunb, a Tie Pilot and a Stormtrooper, shared his excitement at the prospect of more additions to the Star Wars cinematic universe with UTF:

The news that Disney is buying Lucasfilm, is a fantastic development in the Star Wars story.

George has said: “It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of film-makers.”

This latest development in the Star Wars saga will protect and secure ‘The Force’ for future generations of Star Wars fans. It is fantastic and exciting news .

Christopher Malcolm, who played rebel fighter pilot Zev Senesca (Rogue 2) in The Empire Strikes Back, used the opportunity to express his gratitude to Star Wars fans, and whilst he didn’t hypothesise what the future holds for the beloved trilogy, expressed his desire that the new films pleased the fans.

I don’t really feel qualified to comment, other than I wonder how the real fans will react to what will be a whole new scenario? The fans for this franchise are SO important. I have recently attended the  Official Star Wars V1 convention in Orlando as a guest and met many many of them. I saw first hand the devotion, and love they hold for the original 3 movies  ( not so much for the prequels, but [it’s] still there).

The dressing up , the Fans clubs; like Rebel force and the 501, which regularly raise millions for charity, how will they feel to have the big mouse taking over their brand…….. difficult [to tell] I would suggest.

From my point of view, I had a very small role ( crucial to whole plot some would say), in a classic movie, I was thankful for the job and remain so, especially as it gives me an opportunity on occasion to meet some extraordinary people from all over the world!

Terence Mustoo, who portrayed an A-Wing fighter pilot in Return of the Jedi, told us how Disney should look to the roots and traditions of the Original Trilogy.

I think it is good if they look back to the first three and remember action and characters you care about, and on a selfish note I hope they shoot it in England.
