Last year was a good year for horror films, especially on the indie film circuit but a new year means new horrors to be discovered. It seems that 2015 is going to be a great year for horror and here are the top 10 that I am anticipating.
A demon seeks out naughty people to punish them at Christmas time.
Not much is known about the holiday horror film that is to come out this year but with the director of Trick r’ Treat behind the helm, it sure to be a fun romp. The film is to be released December 4th, 2015.
Five people are kidnapped on the days leading up to Halloween and held hostage in a place called Murder World. While trapped, they must play a violent game called 31 where the mission is to survive 12 hours against a gang of evil clowns.
Rob Zombie is always an interesting director. He has had some interesting choices with Devil’s Reject and the remake of Halloween. However, the unique thing behind this film is that it was crowd funded and people must have responded because it will be coming out this year.
3. Insidious Chapter 3
A prequel set before the haunting of the Lambert family that reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.
The third chapter in the Insidious series is going to be crazy and awesome. With a story like the last one, it almost has to be plus the movie series is just really good at being scary. The film is set to be released June 5th, 2015.
2. Paranormal Activity 5: The Ghost Dimension
There isn’t much known about the fifth installment of the Paranormal Activity but with the giant fail of the fourth but the awesomeness of the spin off series, this one should be a good one, especially if they listened to the fans. It should be a crazy one. The film is suppose to come out on March 13th, 2015.
1. The Final Girls
A young woman grieving the loss of her mother, a famous scream queen from the 1980s, finds herself pulled into the world of her mom’s most famous movie. Reunited, the women must fight off the film’s maniacal killer.
I haven’t been this excited for a film in a long time but this one has really caught my attention with the world they are trying to create and how self aware this film will be. I am sure that it will be crazy and fun. It may be the Cabin in the Woods of the slasher genre.
Well there you have it. It is going to be a great year of horror films and there are several more that I am excited for but these made my top five. Do you want to see any of these? Write below what horror films you want to see.
