Is Darth Caedus the villain in STAR WARS EPISODE 7?

If this latest report on the state of the STAR WARS EPISODE 7 script is true, then yep, it sounds like Darth Caedus (aka Jacen Solo), will be the villain of the New Trilogy. Could the recently cast Adam Driver portray him?

Before I dive any deeper into this fanboy speculation, let me lay down the facts. A particularly successful scoopster site, the first ones to reveal George Lucas’s plans for Star Wars Episode 7 way back in 2010, unleashed a brand new wave of deets last week. They re-confirmed Emperor Palpatine’s return, that Gary Oldman and Benedict Cumberbatch were in talks for a role, and that Harrison Ford would only return to the helm of the Millenium Falcon if Disney produced two more Indiana Jones sequels.

As outlandish as all of that sounds, it’s actually been confirmed by a mixture of honest sources, ranging from the folks at Variety to the actors themselves.

Well, now that same original scoopster site claims that Star Wars Episode 7 and the New Trilogy will focus on a set of twins. Specifically…

Jaina takes on Jacen

“Ultimately it’s about twins, and which will take a path towards darkness and which will follow in their fathers footsteps, or at least that is what it used to be, that may come later as I think changes are being undertaken to bring the original cast into the forefront of the story leading to ramifications that lead up to the next generation of Skywalkers.”

Twins? One’s evil, one’s good? Now, this could either refer to Luke and Leia, or one of their offspring. In the Expanded Universe, which exists in a state of limbo as J. J. Abrams and his counsel arbitrate over which tales are canonical and which aren’t, Princess Leia and Han Solo birth a set of twins. Jacen and Jaina Solo become the lead protagonists of the series, and (SPOILERS!!!) Jacen eventually transforms into the most memorable villain of the New Republic, Darth Caedus.

Now, Adam Driver resembles Darth Caedus, and I’ve faith he’d create a memorable performance as the evil Sith, but we’ve nothing but this “Twins, Twins, Twins!!!” gossip to base it on.

In all fairness, Leia or Luke could’ve turned to the Dark Side. While that’s a pretty trite turn for the New Trilogy (omg, you’re telling me the Hero is now the Bad Guy!!!), it’d match well with our scoopster’s claims. Still, I’d hope for Darth Caedus as the evil twin. I’m as tired of Sith as the next guy, and I’d much prefer a villain who was neither influenced by Palpatine or part of the Skywalker clan, but Darth Caedus is a better offering than an evil Luke or Leia.

Combined with reports verifying that the Original Cast will indeed lead Episode 7 as the lead protagonists, and we’ve got more evidence to suggest that a different set of twins will devolve into villainy, with Darth Caedus the central culprit.

Heyo. I'm Nick Dourian, the Editor-In-Chief around these parts. Now, I went to a few other sites, read a few awesome bios, and I really want to fabricate a badass origins story for myself, but I'm feeling particularly unimaginative today, so 'f' that jazz. I read comics, drink bourbon, and cook meats. Imagine Ron Swanson, but with a fuller beard and cuter eyes.

It says they will follow in their fathers footsteps or take the path to the darkside… so that eliminates the Solo twins, since their father never had the option to choose the light side or the dark side… Seems obvious they will be children of LUKE, and since their twins will have little to do with the EU.
