Check Out SMAUG from THE HOBBIT AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY

Sweet fanboy Jesus, this is awesome!

We’ve finally got our hands on footage of the main baddie Smaug from THE HOBBIT : AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY and the winged villain looks G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S. I know the quality is a bit low, and we’ll have that fixed for you as soon as possible, but even from this very pixelated off-screen shot, that damn dragon is amazing.

What do you guys think? Does he live up to the hype? I certainly think this CGI rendition would make ol’ Tolkien proud… despite what his frowny face son would say. In case that reference doesn’t make sense, allow me to briefly explain. Christopher Tolkien, J.R.R.’s son, is among the handful of “haters” who despise Peter Jackson’s adaptations. I understand his reasons, of course, but Chris is still a curmudgeon in my book.
