CBS steals Breaking Bad Creator Vince Gilligan for Detective Drama and Better Call Saul

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has been tapped by CBS for a new show, Battle Creek.  It is being billed as a detective drama show.  This is a project Vince started long before Jesse and Walt came into our lives (and showed there is still great TV out there).  My only concern lies with the network.  Can CBS pull this off and still give it the feel of what we have come to expect from Heisenberg’s creator?  For me that is a big if.  I will suspend official fanboy judgement, however, until I see the show.  Good things are being floated about Gilligan’s foray into major network maze,

The show has received a 13 episode order for the 2014-2015 season. If schedule permits, Vince Gilligan would not only produce the show, but also helm the project. This is great news for fans of Gilligan’s Breaking Bad, which, according to the last episode’s ratings, is around 6.6 million people.  The new series gets its name from the mean streets from where the show is based off; Battle Creek, Michigan. The plan is for Gilligan to direct the pilot for his detective drama that was developed over ten years ago.  The show has received a 13 episode order for the 2014-2015 season. There isn’t much else out there news-wise, but anything brought to us by the man who made cooking meth into a dinner-time conversation deserves a chance, at the very least.  And this seems to be a pet project; which always raises the nerd antennae in anticipation.

And that is not all, boys and girls – AMC has announced a Saul Goodman spin-off!!  The specifics are being kept under wraps but Gilligan will be involved (provided, I am thinking, that he has the time).  Two new shows coming soon to a boob tube near you; buckle up nerds and get ready for some new stuff from Vince Gilligan.
