ARROW Will Have The Flash Cast by September 30

Possibly the biggest news we’ve heard so far from the production of “Arrow” season 2 is that Barry Allen, a.k.a. the Flash will be appearing in three episodes this upcoming season. Well, we won’t have to wait too long to find out who will be playing the famed scientist speedster. Entertainment Weekly recently spoke with executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, who said that they will have someone cast by September 30, which is when is first episode starts filming.

We’ll have to have somebody by Sept. 30, which is when we start shooting [his first] episode. So there is that timeline. But it’s been a really exciting process just getting to meet so many fantastic actors and seeing the enthusiasm that so many people around town have for the character. It’s just amazing — I have pictures of myself at age 4 holding a Flash and a Superman doll. That I’m sitting here writing the Flash and Green Arrow now, it’s more than my little nerd heart can bear sometimes.

Allen will be appear as a recurring character in the eighth and ninth episodes of “Arrow’s” upcoming season as Barry Allen, and then return on the 20th episode, which will act as both an origin story for the Flash, but also act as a backdoor pilot for a “Flash” television show.

It looks like the casting process has already begun to find our Scarlet Speedster. It’s not clear whether they’ve been interviewing well-known actors or unknowns, but personally I’d like to see them go with an unknown. As much as I like the actors on “Arrow,” a lot of the guest actors are well-known from other shows or movies. Let’s go with someone who the audience hasn’t heard of who can surprise us all. I never heard of Stephen Amell before “Arrow,” and he’s turning out to play a very cool Oliver Queen.

Just choose carefully, producers. With the possibility of DC’s TV shows crossing over with their movies, you’ve got to make sure you can find a Flash to keep up with the pace. Ha ha…bad pun.
