ANIME MONDAY 5/6/12

Hello & Welcome to the 1st ANIME MONDAY in the month of May. As always I’m you’re favorite Otaku host, Marcell, and we have a special treat to start this month off right: NEW ANIME. Team Natsu (minus Erza) goes on their 1st S Class Quest in “FAIRY TAIL“, another person ends up murdered in “PERSONA 4“, Kirito & Asuna meet a mysterious little girl in “SWORD ART ONLINE“, Morgiana confronts her demons in “MAGI“, and we have a brand new anime joining our ranks in the form of the new hit show “ATTACK ON TITAN“! Now without further delay, let’s get started.

Fairy Tail – “The Cursed Island”

“The Cursed Island” as stated earlier is a pretty decent introduction in the next major story arc of Fairy Tail. Expanding the world slightly, shedding some light on a member of the guild, and introducing the new antagonists well enough; each of them having distinct personalities. The adventure continues next week as Team Natsu learns more of the Cold Emperor’s plans.

Attack on Titan – “First Battle – Defense of Trost Pt. 1”

“First Battle” is an excellent episode that shows just how terrifying the Titans really are and why humanity had to seal themselves off from them. Nothing in this episode is sugar coated or happy, everything is dark, depressing, and plenty violent. The action scenes are spectacular and the animation remains top notch. The war continues next week as the military tries to salvage Wall Rose.

Persona 4 The Animation – “Catch Me If You Can”

“Catch Me If You Can” is not an action orientated episode, but it does set up plot points for the next episode as well as ones further down the road. A couple characters are expanded on, and a few new mysteries are brought to the forefront which makes this episode an interesting watch even if the animation is lacking at times. The Investigation continues next week as the group looks to end the case once and for all.

Sword Art Online – “The Girl of the Morning Dew”

“The Girl of the Morning Dew” is another solid episode that explains the current state of affairs in Aincrad as well as expand upo characters. Kirito & Asuna really click as a couple and adding, Yui to the mix really drives that point home. The Town of Beginning serves it’s purpose and sets things in motion for the next episode. The fight to survive continues next week as Kirito & Asuna try to figue out their “daughter’s” origins.

Magi Labyrinth of Magic – “Fanalis, The Warrior Tribe”

“Fanalis, The Warrior Tribe” is a pretty good episode that expands on Morgiana in a natural way, showing her confronting her past and moving towards her future with a new perspective. The animation as usual was pretty good and the lighting and angles used in Morgiana’s nightmares fit the mood they are trying to convey; and show how hard her life really was. The adventure continues next week as Morgiana & Aladdin search for Alibaba.
