What I Want in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Soon enough we will finally get to find out what happened to Coulson, and I for one am very excited. Joss Whedon has done a spectacular job at keeping fans in the dark about his plans with the upcoming show, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and now with the show only 20 days away from airing I’m starting to get ancy. An executive producer has announced that they will play off the comic books and that some of the characters introduced will be from the comics. Personally I am hoping for a plethora of cameos, and to get some of the “B-Level” heroes involved in the story line. I would have really liked to have Henry Pym in the show but he’s getting a movie, there’s still a shade of hope that Vision is a part of the team eventually, and J. August Richards is already cast and his character was leaked as Mike Peterson. Here are a few of my hopes that the new show will include.

Luke Cage and Iron Fist- I could see a good fit for the “Heroes for Hire” in the TV show. They could work for and against the Avengers depending on who is paying them the money. There was talk not to long ago to give both Iron Fist and Luke Cage a movie, but it seems like that may have gone by the wayside. A role in the show is exactly where I think they would work best.

Cameos from the Movies- I know Whedon had nothing to do with the Marvel movies outside of the Avengers, but how great would it be if a couple characters showed up here and there. I’d love for RDJ to show up and kick the crap out of someone, but I understand that that will not happen. I’d be happy enough if William Hurt came back as Thunderbolt Ross, or Eric Selvig worked with the team here or there. They have already confirmed that Cobie Smulders will reprise her role as Maria Hill, at least in the Pilot. Let’s bring a couple more people in.

Mike Peterson not being who we think- If you are a Marvel fan and have no idea who Mike Peterson is, don’t feel bad. Mike Peterson was the best friend of Slapstick who has no superpowers. I am not a fan of Slapstick, and I had no idea who Mike Peterson was, specially considering he was out of the comics by 1994. He could just be coincidentally named Mike Peterson, or it could be a hint that Joss intends to have Slapstick in the show. If anyone can make Slapstick cool, it is Whedon. My real hope is that the Peterson leak is false, and Richards really will be Luke Cage (though it was already denied) or Rage.
