ADVANCE REVIEW! Jinnrise #10

Does this conclusion shoulder the weight of the franchise or ultimately falter? Read on to find out.

The official description from IDW:

In an effort to the defeat the alien Kibrani, Andrew and his ragtag team complete their quest to assemble an army of Jinn (Genies)!

While legions of jinn prepare to face the full onslaught of the alien hoard, the key to victory may rest with the decision of a 10-year-old farm boy.

Jinnrise 10_Variant CoverIt took nearly four months to see this volume come to an end but trust me when I say this was worth the wait! Through the steady hands of a more than capable creative team we see this ten issue odyssey reach a new level with its striking narrative. I’ll freely admit that it’s at times rather corny but nonetheless the end result is a pleasing package that’s worth a purchase by any fanboy or fangirl.

Sohaib Awan assists accomplished scribe David Liss in order to deliver what can readily be described as a winning finish. There’s a lot of material covered within the confines of these pages. From the evolution of our primary characters to the single largest battle this title has seen, the audience is given a lot to sink their teeth into. When it comes to the dialogue the established quality is still present and accounted for. But there were a few moments where conversations felt a bit too heavy handed as the plot took a tiny dip into didactic waters.

The interior art by Andrew Huerta is a top notch display that’s sure to dazzle the senses. From simple one on one interaction to epic scenes full of mind blowing detail this talent is more than up to any task the script sets before him. Add in the colors by Francisco Perez and this is without a doubt a high quality comic book that’s made nearly into a must own thanks to this visual display! In short: pick up this issue, even if you just want to stare at the pretty pictures and skip over the body of text.

Jinnrise #10 holds the future of this world and a new franchise in its hands. So trust me when I say: by the time you reach the conclusion it carries a strong enough set-up that’s more than worth delving into with hopefully another volume, or two, or three. For that reason this comes recommended.
