X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Directly Ties Into X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will be a direct sequel to Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, according to the latest reports from our friends at Bleeding Cool. While we’re all well aware that the 2016 Age of Apocalypse themed flick would serve as the next installment of the X-Men franchise, we weren’t certain if it would share or continue any story threads from DOFP, as that film which is releasing next Spring looks more like a “one and done” story.

These most recent reports claim:

“a clear narrative thread that will string the two pictures together, and the character of Apocalypse is a good part of how this will work.”

“a direct continuation, a next chapter that picks up the status quo at the end of Days and carries on developing it.”

For those of you not aware, Apocalypse is the Marvel Universe’s first mutant. A shape-shifter, matter manipulator, and all around badass, Apocalypse will undoubtedly be the Thanos of the Fox Cinematic Universe (until Galactus arrives, that is).

And as far as Apocalypse’s DAYS OF FUTURE PAST connection… that’s easy to find. In the comics, the big blue baddie was awoken from his eternal slumber by the arrival of a time traveling mutant named Cable. There just so happens to be a ton of time traveling in Days of Future Past…

We’re sitting on a massive scoop at the moment, actually, but until we can find two other sources to verify, we won’t even tease you with the info. If it’s confirmed, we’ll get it to you by next week!
