UPDATED X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST News Round-Up; Peter Dinklage Joins; Will Shoot In 3D; Richard Nixon To Feature

Yesterday was a big day for news on X-Men: Days of Future Past. The mega-mutant-crossover hits screens July 18 2014, and the majority of the young cast from the recent X-Men: First Class and the actors from the original movie have been confirmed to return, but it looks like we now have our first new cast addition – Peter Dinklage from Game of Thrones.

It’s unknown who Dinklage will be playing as of now, but do you want to see the actor join X-Men: Days of Future Past?

UPDATE:Variety are now reporting that Dinklage has signed on to play the main antagonist in the movie. They don’t know who he’s playing, however many have already theorized that he’ll be mo-capping the Sentinels or playing Boliver Trask, the creator of the Sentinels. What do you think?

If you were hoping that the current Hollywood trend of making every damn movie they produce 3D to bring in more money – prepare to be disappointed. Director Bryan Singer confirmed in an interview with Cinema Blend (promoting his upcoming movie Jack the Giant Slayer) that the film will be shot in 3D. Read what he has to say below:

“I’ll probably use some of the motion-capture technology for certain things [in Days of Future Past]. And of course the 3D technology. I’ll be shooting native stereo on X-Men.”

There were recently rumours that there would be an all-CGI character in the movie, however I think it’s easy enough to guess that that would be the Sentinels. Will you check out X-Men: Days of Future Past in 3D?

In yet another interview promoting the movie (this time with Collider), Singer also revealed that the movie will feature ex-President Richard Nixon as a character. The sequel focuses on mutant concentration camps run by Sentinels (giant robots) in an alternate future and will take place in 1973, 11 years after X-Men: First Class, so it looks as if there will be some heavy political themes featured.

“I start shooting April 15th in Montreal, probably until October. It’s a big movie. It’ll be the biggest movie I’ve ever made. Richard Nixon’s in it, that’ll be an interesting casting choice… There’ll also be some more science-fiction-type aspects to the story and, without giving it away, some technology that we haven’t seen yet in the X-Men universe.”
