World of Warcraft Film Lands Director!

The World of Warcraft film adaption has been in stasis for years now, and I think fans were giving up hope of seeing it any time soon. Well, an announcement regarding the film has been made! A director has been chosen by Warner Brothers!

The director is Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code), who already has several awards under his belt! He will be joining Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond), who is penning the script. Stuart Fenegan and Chris Metzen will co-produce. Warner Bros. is aiming to begin production for the film Fall 2013, with a release date of 2015.

Meanwhile, other sources claim that Warner Brothers is looking to hire Johnny Depp (Edward Scissorhands, Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Tonto in The Lone Ranger) as the main actor, but this has yet to be verified.

The World of Warcraft MMORPG video game series began in 2004, and has since spawned sequels, spin-offs, and various novels, comics, and manga. The film adaption was first announced back in 2006, and in 2009, Sam Raimi (Spider-Man) was attatched to direct, before moving on in 2010.

Anyway, another film set for 2015? Gosh, I wonder how fans will manage to conserve their wallets….
