This news probably won’t come as a surprise to you if you have a basic knowledge of Thor enemies, but word is floating around that in Thor: The Dark World, the titular character will battle Malekith and his army of dark elves. The news broke a month ago, but it was in an interview with British stuntman James Grogan, on a verry small site so nobody picked up on it until now. Well, he actually says he and his crew had to be elves, but taking the title of the sequel into consideration, I’m pretty sure we’ll see the dark elves in the movie.
Thanks to a brief chat with Hollywood stuntman James Grogan, we may have our answer. Whilst discussing the importance of acting chops in stunt work, Grogan related the experience to a certain Marvel film that he’s currently training for.“The other day for example, this is quite random but I was working on Thor 2,” he explains, “I had a load of stunt guys in and the director came in and he said ‘Look, we want you all to be elves,’ and I was like ‘What the hell is an elf anyway?’and he said ‘I want you all to walk around like these supernatural animals,’ honestly it was the most ridiculous thing ever but you just have to not be self aware and get on with it.”
However, you’ll notice he doesn’t mention Malekith in the excerpt, but we do know that Casino Royale star Mads Mikkelsen was in talks to play the villain in Thor: The Dark World, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
One actor I would LOVE to see play Malekith is Benedict Cumberbatch. He has that creepy, villainous look to him and he is a fantastic actor. Do you think the dark elves and Malekith would be good villains for the upcoming sequel? Sound off below.
