Will A Major Character Be Killed Off In THOR: THE DARK WORLD?

Be warned, this article contains a potential major spoiler for Marvel’s upcoming sequel, Thor: The Dark World. Read on if you dare…

The Thor sequel has been filming in Surrey, UK for a few days now but we still don’t know much about the film, except Malekith will be the villain and the Dark Elves will feature. The ever-reliable Bleeding Cool have received word from multiple sources that a major character in the movie will be killed off by the end of the film. They’re not too sure who it is, but they think that it could be Odin himself.

Frankly, I don’t believe this rumour. At leas the Odin part. Odin is such a major character in the Marvel Universe and plays a big role in stuff like Infinity Gauntlet, which we know will be getting some kind of film adaptation soon-ish. And, if he was, then he would have only appeared in two films and we’ve barely scratched the surface of his character. I think it’s far more likely one of the Warriors Three will be killed.

But as always, take this news with a grain of salt. Do you think Odin will kick the bucket in Thor: The Dark World? Share your thoughts below.

Dude save your opining for things you know about. Odin has died and returned many times. Shit like this is why Utf blows.

Odin has died plenty of times, and it’s always served as a way to jumpstart a dying book.

Let me ask, do you actually know what you’re talking about???

I’ll cite just one example, during the Rune King Saga, Odin died and Thor was elevated to the level of Sky Father. While I enjoyed the entire cycle (Being a Thor addict), I could still realize it was a really terrible story arc in the grand scheme of things. It only existed to Mark Miller-ize the Thor universe. Instead of creating a story within the confines of an icon’s characteristics, they just wanted to turn Thor into a despot struggling with his own powers.

The book was so bad, in fact, that Marvel cancelled Thor.

When the book was brilliantly rebooted by JMS, the whole issue was addressed and Odin’s death was brushed under the rug, as much as possible (until a new creative team resurrected him).

So no… Odin’s death would be terrible for the Cinematic Universe. It diverts Thor from being an adventuring prince to a worry burdened King.

      Lame.

Odin really? That’s not gonna happen, maybe the villain but not Odin.
