The Playlist reports that young actresses Mia Wasikowska and Zoe Aggeliki are both in consideration from Lionsgate to play the character of Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The site first broke the news that Gary Ross would not return to direct the sequel, so I’d say this story is legit. Johanna is a sarcastic and hard tribute from District 7 who’s family is dead. At first her and Katniss’ relationship is cold but as the book progresses they become allies.
The only movie I’ve seen Mia act in is Alice in Wonderland and I thought she was OK in that, but Alice and Johanna are very different characters so I don’t know whether she can pull it off. I’d actually never heard of Aggeliki before this story, but looking at her filmography she has hardly any films to her name, although she is starring in Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters and R.I.P.D. Aggeliki is said to be the frontrunner, and could sign in the next few days but nothing is confirmed yet. Which actress do you want to see play Johanna Mason? Sound off below.
